Classic Old Fashioned Cocktail Recipe

The Classic Old Fashioned cocktail has been enjoyed for more than a century. This simple and elegant cocktail has the perfect balance of sweet, bitter, and boozy flavors and is ideal for sipping on a cool evening.

Ingredients

• Ice
• 1 sugar cube or 1 tsp granulated sugar
• 2 oz bourbon or rye whisky
• 1 orange peel
• 1 cherry maraschino (optional)
• angostura bitters, 2 tsp

Time Needed

• Prep Time: 5 minutes
• Total Time: 5 minutes

Instructions

• In an Old Fashioned glass, place a sugar cube or granulated sugar.
• To the glass, add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters.
• Muddle the sugar cube with a splash of water until it dissolves.
• Fill the glass with ice.
• Pour 2 oz bourbon or rye whisky over the ice and stir until completely dissolved.
• Peel a strip of orange zest with a vegetable peeler and twist it over the glass to release the oils.
• If desired, garnish with a maraschino cherry and serve immediately.
